Working Of Lock Nut Hydraulic Cylinder
Extend the Ram
Similar to a standard hydraulic cylinder, hydraulic pressure is applied to extend the ram or plunger to the desired height.
Thread the Lock Nut
Once the ram reaches the target position, the operator screws a heavy-duty threaded lock nut down along the ram until it contacts the cylinder base.
Mechanical Load Holding
Upon contact with the base, the lock nut transfers the load from the hydraulic system to the mechanical structure, effectively securing the ram in place. This ensures positional stability even in the event of hydraulic pressure loss.
Secure Operation
After releasing the hydraulic pressure, the cylinder functions as a stable, load-bearing element, with the load fully supported by the mechanical lock nut, ensuring safe and reliable operation.
Retraction
To retract the ram, the lock nut is first unscrewed upward along the ram, and hydraulic pressure is then reapplied to withdraw the ram into the cylinder.
